Introduction for school trips and educational visits

Dolben Hall is a purpose-built mansion with excellent facilities - situated on a 25 acre site in the heart of the Cefn Valley and nestling on the banks of the River Elwy. We have our own Limestone rock face and Cave, Forest area for Paintball and Quad Treks, Low & High Ropes Course and specific Fields for Team Building /Problem Solving Exercises. The river gives us access to Kayak & Canoe, Raft Building and White Water Rafting.

We are a Licensed Centre by AALS license no L6904.

We are perfectly situated for a host of outdoor pursuits and educational related studies. The wildlife in the Cefn valley is in abundance with wild deer, badgers, peregrine falcons and a wide range of flora & fauna, birdlife seen daily.

Working together with schools and colleges we can help create a culture that is more encouraging and rewarding to work within. We help pupils and students by using outdoor activities as a medium to promote programmes that enrich and empower participants to discover themselves and home in on Key Skills.

What does a typical school trip or educational visit include?

We tailor each visit to meet your requirements we have a range of Outdoor Activities and Team Building exercises for you to experience, we can also assist your Teachers in Environmental projects and curriculum based subjects.

We concentrate on effective communication, Toleration, problem solving, working with others, Delegation and team development, with a selection of tailor-made activities to bring individuals together, encouraging them to communicate effectively and develop Key skills in which they benefit not only individually but also as a team.

We find the use of experimental learning (learning by doing, reflect, improve, adapt and move on.) to be of benefit to the young people attending our courses.

What size groups do they cater for?

Up to 30 pupils & 5 teachers.

What can they provide you with to support your school trip or educational visit?

We can provide qualifications in Climbing & Abseiling, Mountain Walking, Hill Walking, Canoe & Kayaking, and NCFE Navigation Skills level 2 & 3.

Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copy write restrictions?

We provide a Cd of photos taken during the residential and present this to the group, along with a group photo & certificate to each Individual attending and a framed picture of group and activities undertaken which s presented to the School / College

How do you arrange a risk assessment?

We provide a risk summary to all educational establishments, and proof of our operational procedures, AALS registration, and valid insurance.

Is specific clothing required?

All specialist equipment is provided, the only thing we do not provide is towels and personal clothing.

Do you have first aid on site?

All our staff are first aid trained and first aid posts and boxes carried in each vehicle and by each member of Staff.

What facilities do they have for school trips and educational visits?

All residential’s are full board and where appropriate packed lunches are provided,
We can provide a Tuck Shop and students do not need more than £5.00.

Are there disabled facilities?

We do not have facilities for disabled i.e. wheelchair access or lifts, however we have taken visually Impaired, Mental Health Patients and disabled Guests rather than an individual being excluded from the group.
