School Trip & Group Educational Visit Information

Venue Introduction

Awesome Walls Climbing Centre is one of the largest indoor climbing centers’ in Europe and we have the steepest ‘lead’ walls in England at an Awesome 17.5 meters. Our lead and top-rope walls offer a vast variety of angles so there’s always something to challenge the group. Lockers, toilets, changing areas and showers are provided.
The centre is conveniently situated 1 minute North of Liverpool city centre. We are open seven days a week Mon to Fri 10am until 10pm and Sat & Sun 10am until 6pm.

Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational Visits?

We cater for schools on a variety of levels. School groups can come as a ‘one off’ session or we can tailor make climbing courses to suit individual school needs. The rock climbing module in the GCSE syllabus has proven extremely popular since it was introduced. We also offer our in-house award system with 6 awards to achieve.

What size groups do they cater for?

We can provide tuition for any ratio but ideally we work with group sizes of 6 to 24.

What can they provide you with to support you?

All group sessions are carefully logged at the end of each session on progress sheets. These sheets are an excellent aid for the instructors, teachers and group to provide information on what has been covered and what is to be aimed for.

How do you book a risk assessment?

All schools/groups must pre book at least 2 weeks prior to a session beginning. It is normal practice to invoice schools for all bookings. Invoice details will need to be provided at the time of booking. A risk assessment is available from our website -  http://www.awesomewalls.co.uk/download.html

What are the contact details for their education officer?

Simon Aldrige is the centre manager and Jude Speckman is in charge of bookings.  Reservations can be made on 0151 298 2422.

What does it cost?

For a group booking we require a minimum of six.
1 hour = £9.00 per head
1.5 hour = £12.50 per head
Longer sessions can be requested. All prices are inclusive of equipment and tuition.
Discounts can be given on block bookings.

Is specific clothing required?

Sports clothing/track suits required.

Do you have first aid on site?

There is always a first aider on site.

What facilities do they have for school trips and educational visits?

Sweets, crisps, snacks and hot/cold drinks are available. Tables and chairs are provided for rest and eating throughout the centre.

Are there disabled facilities?

We have taken disabled groups on a regular basis but our new Stockport centre is better suited to disabled groups. (Please see Stockport listing page on this site)
