We are an award winning, Crime Scene Investigation/Forensic Science company. We transform a classroom/lab into a forensic science laboratory, together with a crime scene and the investigation to go with it! It is a highly kinaesthetic experience for ALL Key Stages. Why is this School Workshop great for educational needs? All our instructors have been at the CSI/Forensic Science “coal face”. We are made up of forensic scientists, police officers, crime scene examiners and other professionals. We employ one of the world’s leading Fingerprint experts and a DNA “expert” witness. What does a typical school workshop include? We have two different models:- (1) Our instructor takes a class of 30 ish students for a whole school day. Typically a variety of the following activities are undertaken:- Fingerprint Expert. “Mock Trial” complete with wigs and gowns. (2) The second option is “mass” workshops. We mutually agree a set time during the day; one or two periods. We take thirty students at a time and repeat the activity throughout the day. Favourite activities for this model are blood spatter pattern analysis or Fingerprint Expert in an hour. What size groups do they cater for? We cater for any amount of students; single classes, year groups or whole school activities. What can they provide you with for the workshop? We bring all the relevant forms, documentation and equipment with us for students to work with. Risk assessments are forwarded to the school prior to the event, together with a consent form. The majority of our activities are directly linked or mapped to the national curriculum. In addition, Personal Learning Skills are embedded at KS 3 or 4, especially “team work”. We teach elements of AQA Additional Applied Science, OCR Nationals, Edexcel BTEC and we have specially designed a 10 hour ASDAN course. Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copyright restrictions? As we come to you, we are more than happy for students to take photographs. We positively encourage the use of camera/mobile phones for a small and select period during the fingerprint activities. This enhances the learning. How do you arrange a risk assessment? Risk assessments are sent to schools prior to our arrival. Additionally, ALL of our instructors carry enhanced CRB checks. These are always available for inspection. We require a teacher/assistant to be present during our entire teaching and learning time. What does it cost? The cost is £700 per day for one instructor (Ex VAT). The price includes:-full CSI Kit for each student, equipment, expert tuition, full insurance, written careers information and materials for an excellent classroom display. Is specific clothing required for the outreach activity? We supply personal protective equipment as worn by Crime Scene Examiners (One piece suit, masks gloves and goggles). Please ensure, as far as possible, female students wear trousers for this day. Are you first aid trained? Our presenters are first aid trained and we bring our own first aid equipment. What facilities do they have for school trips and educational visits? Fingerprint kits and fingerprint microscope are for sale at £10 and £5 respectively. Are there disabled facilities? We enjoy working with disabled students. Futhermore, we work with all students regardless of ability, aptitude or previous behaviour. Featured Listing: NoMore Information
