With limestone grassland, parkland, woodland and farms, we provide access to a wide range of habitats in the White Peak area of outstanding natural beauty. Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational Visits? We introduce children (and adults) to new worlds – large and small, old and new – and help them to celebrate the wonder of what they experience. From exciting guided walks - long or short, high or low, with tall tales along the way - to river or pond dipping, village studies, map reading, art work and more, we aim to meet the needs of all groups visiting this fantastic place. What does a typical school trip or educational visit include? We tailor your visit to your needs by working closely with group leaders in advance of their visit. With accommodation on site at Dovedale House and YHA Ilam Hall, most groups undertake a 3 day visit with a range of activities either side of a full day’s guided walk in the area. What size groups do they cater for? Most groups constitute a standard class but larger groups may be accommodated on occasion, depending on availability of National Trust Learning volunteers. What can they provide you with to support your school trip or educational visit? We don’t offer worksheets. Our aim is to get children and students out into the landscape to experience it at first hand with someone who knows it well and is able to respond directly to questions on site. Can you take photos, video or audio? Are there any copyright restrictions? Yes, No restrictions. How do you arrange a risk assessment? Group leaders should contact the Community & Learning officer to make initial enqiries about all aspects of their visits. Risk assessmrnts are available should they be required.
